According to our experience, the main quality difference between our MB dien spinnerets against the ones with Chinese-made quality is the better finishing of the capillaries.
All our MB die spinnerets (100% made in Italy): Refer to tolerance on the capillary diameter to be +/-0,002 mm (+/- 2 μm); Refer to finishing on the capillary walls of 0,025 Ra (mirror finishing); Rre manufactured by punching process.
The MB die spinnerets made in China: Are manufactured simply by drilling and no punching.
This is because the punching requires a special know-how by very skilled workers and it is not something that can be copied.
Manufacturing a capillary simply by drilling leads to an high roughness (that can be observed through the use of a microscope and a backlight).
Therefore, even if it is possible to have capillaries with hole pitch 0,5 mm by drilling, the capillaries result to be rougher and with a worse finishing.
To sum up, the punching process and the mirror finishing (i.e. roughness/finishing on the capillary walls of 0,025 Ra) of our spinnerets make them much better than the Chinese-made ones.
These two points are very important for the quality of the MB fabric in order, for the customer, to meet the filtration requirements and to get the certification of the MB fabric filtration efficiency (for masks or for other products).
